The Netflix documentary dedicated to the Knysna fiasco, which occurred during the 2010 World Cup, has reignited numerous tensions, particularly concerning the publication of Raymond Domenech's private diary. This personal document is at the heart of a controversy regarding its use in the series, accused of having been stolen and misused. Roselyne Bachelot, then Minister of Sports, shed light on this delicate subject in an interview for RMC Sport.
The Netflix Documentary and the Controversy Surrounding the Private Diary
Recently released, the documentary details the tumultuous events of Knysna, where the French team experienced a media and sporting disaster. Among the key elements, the use of the private diary of Raymond Domenech, former coach, has sparked a lively debate. Some critics have denounced the theft of this personal document, as well as a manipulation of its content to dramatize the narrative.
Roselyne Bachelot, however, downplayed these accusations, recalling that the documentary, although critical, does not seem to have overstepped legal or ethical boundaries regarding this diary. She told RMC Sport that she did not "feel that Netflix had stolen Domenech's private diary."
